Umbrella Monitoring System
A comprehensive «Umbrella Monitoring System» was developed by Venisat Technology Limited for network resources and services.
Purpose of the system
The main purpose of the UMBRELLA MONITORING SYSTEM (UMS) is to monitor the telecommunications network.
Main functions:
- monitoring the presence of alarms and events in the network;
- control of the availability of network elements;
- control the availability and manageability of individual ports of network elements;
- collection of statistics on the operation of network elements and ports of different types;
- monitoring the performance of the network and its individual elements.
The implementation of the UMS will lead to an effective alarm system and a successful transition from a reactive to an operational approach to infrastructure maintenance, which will shorten the response time and troubleshooting due to their quick and effective detection.
Scope of UMS
UMBRELLA MONITORING SYSTEM is aimed at the use on telecommunication networks of large telecom operators and large corporate clients, such as railways, energy, energy transportation. The scope is due to the possibility of multilevel access for operators and administrators to different types of equipment distributed over a large area.
In addition to continuously monitoring alarms that indicate failures in individual systems, the operator is provided with tools to quickly detect degradation in the quality of monitored services and any other deviations from expected indicators. The operator has access to tools for generating reports on the quality of services provided for regulatory authorities.
The system provides efficient mechanisms for handling alarms and network events and provides comprehensive monitoring of system performance based on KPIs and KQIs.
UMS capabilities for the system operator
UMBRELLA MONITORING SYSTEM allows you to connect up to 100 operators. The number of levels of the umbrella system — up to 5.
Each of the operators, depending on his accounts (login, password), are given the rights to:
- control of certain network elements, distributed over a certain area;
- visual display on the map of the territory of various levels of alarm messages;
- control of ports of certain types;
- control of network elements of certain manufacturers;
- access to the accumulated statistics of work and performance of various parts of the telecommunications network;
- specific report templates.
Internal architecture of UMS
UMBRELLA MONITORING SYSTEM implemented as separate virtual network software functions according to the concept of Network Functions Virtualization, NFV.
These functions are deployed in the cloud on industrial servers of various manufacturers.
This implementation allows you to get a highly reliable and high-performance system that does not depend on specific server hardware and can quickly change its performance.
To increase security, individual functions of the system interact with each other and system operators using auto-identification using cryptographic protection means.
